HARTLEPOOL GREYHOUND STADIUM

This site is not an official website for the track shown here and is neither approved or endorsed by the stadium. I am indebted to Richard English for helping to construct this page.

The greyhound track in the Tyne and Wear town of Hartlepool was situated on the Clarence Road at 1° 12' W 54° 41' N and held its inaugural meeting on 14th September 1938. The venue was popular with locals with early crowds numbering as many as 4,000.Throughout its history it operated as an independent flapping track run by Hartlepool Racing Company Limited. The tight track had a circumference of 336 metres and ran sprint races over 245 metres, standard races over 425 metres and distance races over 590 metres.

The track closed in 1993 and the site on which the former track once stood is now covered by a Morrisons Supermarket.

This section gives a comprehensive picture of the badges produced by the track throughout the ages, but only provides the briefest of glimpses of its history. For those wishing to undertake further research we can recommend a visit to
